Destination: Finalized

I failed to mention this a week or so back, but I got accepted into everything except Health at McMaster (I got offered Life instead, not in a million, loser-McMaster-pants). So really, I knew I was headed for Waterloo from the start, but it came time to decide between health-related studies and math-business. And really, it’s not much of a decision, between a program I picked as a back up and one I thought I would have a little trouble (but apparently, none) getting into.

Here’s where I stand in terms of everything now: I’ve accepted Waterloo’s (and Laurier’s, kinda) offer of admission into the Honours Math and Business Administration Double Degree, to be finished after 5 years of two parts study, one part co-op university life. I’ll be staying on residences, hopefully in the Mackenzie King residence and in a single person room (I don’t care too much about in-room washrooms or shared ones).

As for scholarships, I would have got $3000 if I went to McMaster for Life Sciences (nope). Instead, I’ve opted for the entrance scholarship from Waterloo for $2000, plus the Descartes scholarship specific to Waterloo’s Mathematics faculty, so that’s another $2000 for a total of, if my math’s correct, $4000 for going to Waterloo. It’s not exactly excessively much, but whatever money I get for going to a school I already like that isn’t expensive/milking stupid students of their money is good by my standards. I could never understand the rationale behind going to an overpriced university (for reasons like expensive living costs or going to an Ivy school) for a Bachelor’s in whatever, especially if you are going for a Master’s (thus making your Bachelor’s worth much less) eventually anyway.

I’ll be looking at Macbook Pros in the summer. Hopefully, the Montevina chipset gets implemented after its June release and I can totally tap that MBP by August. All day, all night, y’know how I work. I want to get all my accessories and stuff sorted out before heading off in September. These would include:

  • a sticker screen-protector
  • a skin-cover for the keyboard
  • a zippered sleeve for the MBP itself
  • (possibly) a Nipple-Mouse to minimize need to oil up the touch-pad

Anyway, I didn’t really go through too much trouble sorting my stuff (instead of a more explicit word I thought of using) out. The where, how, and with what (i.e. funds) I got figured out pretty much and I’m also pretty much decided where my scholarship money is mainly going to go (MBP + accessories, maybe y’know, some books and stuff). Some things you just know it’s meant for you when it comes along.
