Epic Week, Day 3: Imperial Buffet

That is a video of myself and badminton teammate Darren having a wasabi eating contest. To repeat this potentially disastrous experiment/dare, grab some run-of-the-mill soup spoons and scoop out healthy helpings of wasabi from the sushi bar. Then, smear them onto your tongues on three and watch as hilarity and near-vomiting ensue.

Today we, the 2007-2008 IB class of Victoria Park CI headed over to “Imperial Buffet” on Eglington and Warden for a year-end gorging. Originally, Amy and I were gonna get beads today, but instead we opted to try and finish (unsuccessfully) an English assignment still due for completion marks. Since she and I got there early, we hit up the “La Vie En Rose” (“Life In Pink” for the strictly Anglophonic out there) to check out… well, whatever it is they sell in that store. We then headed into the restaurant to await the rest of our IB class to arrive before feasting on everything from roast beef to smoked salmon.

I thought the food was mostly pretty decent and like any buffet, the variety was decent but far from extensive, nor was any single dish particularly delicious (the chicken brochette was delightful, though, I must say). I think the highlight was the chocolate fondue fountain that they had for fruits and stuff for desert. I made two skewers of three strawberries each, one for myself and one for Amy, which I then drenched with chocolate from the fondue machine. I called them “Sex Apples”.

At the end of the night we got to thank our teachers and Mr. Usprech for their amazing work, getting us all through IB and whatnot. I thought it a nice gesture of us to pay, collectively, for their dinners. I then spent almost half an hour out in the cold with a t-shirt and shorts with the gusts at my back waiting for the 68 Warden to go home. I also made some grandmother who was waiting at the same stop listen to me wail out “It’s Not Easy” by Five For Fighting. Score!
