info @ the P.Pole 06.02.08

I suppose this will be my last at-home info session until late July.

This coming week is going to be filled with packing and getting myself ready to hit up Hong Kong for the first time in at least four years.  Last week and a half was filled with dates and foodies, so I am currently more or less broke. I intend on not spending any more until I get to HK. And then, a bit more spending (for example, I’ve got to pick up some pens for Yi-Min and stay on the look out for something neat to get Shivon).  I had originally planned to get a summer job and pay off some of my expenses but that is impossible, given that I’m only there for six weeks and no one wants to hire someone (volunteer or no) for six weeks, and only half the “real” summer at that. That’s okay. I plan on doing lots of reading, writing, drawing (more like doodling),  and sports while I stay with my uncle Keith.

He’s got a recreation club house under his condo (40-something-th floor FTW, if I remember correctly) with badminton courts! I am going to have to hit that up as much as possible while I’m there. He’s also certified as a SCUBA-diver so if I can learn to dive and go on at least four dives with him, I can get certified to do dives anywhere in the world too. I am excited to see what kinds of things I’ll find in the water. Perhaps even fish and rocks! Keith’s also got an underwater camera (I actually am not sure whether it’s an add-on for a regular camera like a waterproof case or a special camera in itself) to snap wet shots. Do not be surprised if I return to Canada thoroughly swollen and sore from resurfacing too fast.

On an unrelated note, enjoy the following song by The Perishers, “Nothing Like You and I” courtesy Amy. Lyrics after the jump, and yes, they are mushy.

We spent some time together, walking,
Spent some time just talking
About who we were.
You held my hand so very tightly,
And told me what we could be
Dreaming of.

There’s nothing like you and I…

We spent some time together, drinking,
Spent some time just thinking
About days of joy.
As our hearts started beating faster,
I recalled your laughter
From long ago.

There’s nothing like you and I…

We spent some time together, crying,
Spent some time just trying
To let each other go.
I held your hand so very tightly,
And told you what I would be
Dreaming of.

There’s nothing like you and I…
So why do I even try?
There’s nothing like you and I.
