5 things I’m taking to residence:

  • Water filter (Brita) pitcher and replacement filters
  • Notebook and accessories (case, mouse, keyboard, rack, external drives, and USB hub)
  • Stationary (paper notebooks, Pencil Case of Ultimate Power, and book-propping stand)
  • Small (60 x 80 cm) desk with wheels and height-adjustable for my computer and maybe writing
  • Clothes, many many clothes

This is my last week at home before I move out for the better part (at the very least) of the coming year. I plan on returning to Toronto every two or three weeks but that is not for certain yet. Surely, I must return but I don’t know just yet how the bus schedules will work out.

I’m sort of itching to get out and get everything set up at residence. My suite will be shared with two other guys, one is caucasian and the other is from Hong Kong, but we will be in our own rooms. We’ll be sharing the kitchen area and the washroom. I know for fact that one of my suite-mates also has a very basic mealplan so we could potentially be cooking up something fierce in that little kitchen.

The feeling of moving into a new place with new furniture, new stuff, new routines, new people, and new ways to hack life is what I think I’ll enjoy the most. That will be offset by me having to leave behind my family and friends that will remain here in Toronto. I guess not too much will change between myself and those I usually communicate with through IM, but I am not so optimistic for others (like churchblings I see almost exclusively on Sundays). Then there’s Amy, who is staying in Toronto. She has one or two girl friends going to Waterloo as well, but that does very little to comfort my lack of actual Amy while away. Again, another reason to return as often as possible.
