This has been a great and interesting first year of university for me. Now that Term 2 is over (excepting the final exams) I would like to recap on some of the most important things this past year.
5 distractions and pass-times that got me through first year:
- Rock Band:
Taylor brought his PS3 in and his Rock Band kit, so for the most part of Term 1 Sam and I spent our free-time playing through the world tour. So far, we’ve amassed almost one million fans and almost 900 stars. It also made me want to learn the drums, eventually. - Team Fortress 2 + Left 4 Dead:
It’s not a secret that I like first-person shooters and these two have been more or less my staples for the past year. I’ve explored with some others (most notably Unreal and Half-Life 2 again) but the team-play aspect of TF2 and L4D are really the parts I love about these games. - Bang!:
Aaron bought Bang!: The Bullet after summer camp last summer and has since left this in my care. He comes over to play with Sam, Taylor, and myself once a week and those have been some of the most fun evenings of… well, banging. We usually do four, but sometimes there are more-somes. - Settlers of Catan:
Awhile back I found a set for this board game at the local mall for $40 or so. I bought it after waiting a whole week to make sure I still wanted to get it. ever since we have been playing maybe once a week or a few games every other week to pass the lazy weekends. Fun times. - HIMYM + Chatting:
Being so far from Amy here at UW, we have devised a most devious ploy. We occasionally watch episodes of How I Met Your Mother while chatting on the side. Now, it might seem a little silly to some of you, but the obvious explanation I can offer is that some of you have never been in love. >_O
SIDENOTE: This is, in fact, the 1500th post here on the P.Pole. Quite a good indicator on my verbosity.
