Sometimes you just know. I sat down with this magnificent creature and started plucking away. It was wonderful! Marvelous! True, unadulterated joy, for the first time in a long time! She felt organic, living and a part of me. Everything about this bass both screams for my attentions. From the subtle finish to the eye-catching face. It’s hard to explain or even justify such a sudden love for an instrument. I laid eyes on her and just knew I had to have her. Not for the sake of purchase, or for the sake of owning. Rather, for the sake of love. This bass is beautiful, and I vow to have one. Be it in a month or six, a year or a decade, I will save enough money and find some way to have this most lovely of instruments.
What caught my attention initially was the far-from normal looks. She is a delectable wonder. What kept me was the comfort of the instrument. Her body just feels right, when pressed up against mine. Her neck is slender yet firm, laced with ebony and polished to a matte glow. Did I mention the sounds she makes? Truly, playing her reminded me of my days as a cellist (I still long for the day I can afford to purchase an aged cello for myself). Her voice is rich and her range is full. The decorations and make-up are minimal-to-non-existent and yet she manages to look stunning. She also has no knobs to speak of, but sliders and switches instead. Truly one of a kind.
I wish I had a picture… Oh hai.
