5 things we did at camp over the weekend:

  • chop wood
  • cook food
  • make fires
  • play cards
  • get wet

One of the best parts about this past weekend’s camping trip was the little adventure Aaron and I went on when we hopped out onto the big rocks leading out to the middle of the lake to get splashed by the waves. I don’t know what it was about it, but something as silly and stupid as that was the most fun I’ve had in awhile. The waves were truly beastly that Sunday afternoon up at Sibbald Point Camp’s lake. We got soaked up to the chins and it was quite fun.

I also enjoyed making fires. I don’t think I cooked a single time this entire weekend. All my time and efforts were spent smashing wood, building fires, and tying ropes. You know, manly stuff. Most of the cooking involved frying stuff anyway, so it’s not like they needed me to do something to tricky. I prefer this style of doing things, where each person has a role to play and they just do that one thing (hopefully) very well.
