9 PosterEveryone, Tim Burton’s “9″ comes out today. You should be seeing it. Now. Go.

5 things I am glad I got to do this summer:

  • go to the Virgin Festival with Amy
  • be involved with worship and AV teams at TJCAC
  • make some tee shirts with Amy for coworkers, friends, and family (still taking orders, by the way, and I’m still in the process of collecting the photos of jobs well-done so far)
  • go camping and play cards with some friends from church
  • earn some money to pay for some of my expenses at school

Soon–all too soon–I will be moving back into Waterloo for a year’s worth of school + work. I’ll be on another work term in winter (i.e. start of January until the end of April) and I’m planning on finding work within Waterloo. I mean, I will be stuck with paying for rent anyway and I am too lazy to sublet, so I might as well stick around and get a job there. I will likely hustle back out to Toronto during those few short weeks of break between end of exams/work and the start of new terms.

Well, summer’s pretty much over and school is going to start. I’m hoping my hardcore Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, with mostly free Tuesdays and Thursdays, will work out well. Classes on MWF, school work and rest on TT. I am going to try to stick a more rigid schedule this year, to set aside specific time slots for work and for play, instead of going willy nilly. I didn’t have much trouble staying on top of my studies last year, but some extra structure will prove beneficial, I expect.

I know that this year my roles will have to expand a bit, because I know that there are quite a few new first-years coming in that are friends of mine, from Jaffray. Namely, there’s Andy, Grant, and Natalie, and I plan on being a decent mentor (if you can call it that) to them. I just want to make sure they have all the help and guidance they need for the mundane stuff I can help with, so that they have more time to figure out for themselves what to do with everything else that comes with living and studying away from home. I foresee a bit of cooking dinner for these kids and inviting them over for cards and board games. It should be fun.
