Update: Apparently there were some problems viewing the page properly on IE—I suspect due to the use of <nav> instead of <div> for the menus. Hopefully the revised, more ambiguous version (using <div> for the menu, à la mode vielle) works well for everyone.
Hello world! Welcome to the P.Pole’s fresh new face! I call this theme “Tissue” and here’s a screen cap of what it ought to look like under optimal (my) settings:
- Base: Sandbox WordPress theme by Scott and Andy
- Fonts (Secondary): Bookman Old Style; Helvetica (Garamond, Times New Roman, Times; Verdana, Lucida Sans Unicode)
- Colors: Mostly white, greys/charcoals, and red (#900 to be exact).
- Effects: Plenty of context specific a:link/active/visited/hover behaviour and image borders. There’s also quite a bit of box shadowing all over the place (but hopefully without being distracting or gratuitous).
- Menu: Makes use of WordPress’ new “Custom Menu” feature to decide what to show on the menu (what is currently available will probably be subject to change once I tidy my scripture pages).
- Lists: Customize <ul> bullets (more like dashes), because the default discs and circles weren’t simple enough.
Minimalism was a main goal I had in mind when I was putting this theme together. I further simplified and grouped a lot of Sandbox’s ideas before getting fancy with the rest of the page. I think the final result is pretty stellar, given the ~1 week of work (on and off) I have put into Tissue. I really like it. Let me know what you think in the comments, should you so desire!
