5 of my hobbies (and how I feel about them):
- T-shirt Printing (I don’t get enough time to do this, but seeing my designs on myself/others is pretty rewarding)
- SCUBA Diving (I love it, but I haven’t had a chance to go since university started)
- Woodworking/Carpentry (I’m mainly thinking of the bass I made/am in the process of refinishing at the moment, but I like building stuff out of wood in general)
- Fountain Pens (I don’t know if this is really a hobby, but I do have a small collection of Lamy fountain pens and inks from Noodler’s Ink… I really like nice hand-writing and have been trying to find a style of script that feels natural to me)
- Video Games (I would do less of this if I could do more of the others, but it’s a good stress reducer during exams, when I don’t exactly have time for any of the other activities on this list)
I’m going to say that most of these aren’t exactly normal hobbies (apart from games, I suppose) but when I tried to think of those, I couldn’t come up with anything other than “I play sports…?” It’s kind of sucky, since this means I don’t really have all that many things I can do with other people I know (notice how most/all of the above activities are mostly done in solitude, except for diving, which requires a buddy system).
If I could take up any new hobbies (assuming cost and time were not factors), I would probably try to get into competitive sharpshooting (eg: what those people have to do for biathlons, with the skis and the rifles) or hot air balloon piloting. No joke. And before you ask, YES, I intend to become a hot air balloon sniper (not the most inconspicuous choice of vantage points but…). I would also love to learn how to fly RC helicopters and airplanes. Kite building is another step up from that, as it’d combine my interest of being high as a kite with the actual handiwork involved with building a kite from scratch. And of course, I would get way into building more guitars and basses if I had the money for the space to setup a shop and for the tools to fill it with (not to mention all the expensive hardware and materials that go into building instruments). Actually, if I clean out my grandma’s garage, I’d probably have a decent-sized shop for that kind of thing… Hm…
