In what was a surprise move on the part of WordPress newcomer Carl, a now personal domain has been secured along with hosting privileges unseen before to rookie!
So here you are at (what I hope will be) the third and final resting place for the P.Pole. I recently migrated from Blogger (bless your heart) to WordPress.com. Because of the limited (but still pretty good) functionality and because of the perfect timing and opportunities, I decided to move to join a friend’s hosting service and buy myself a domain as well. “the-ppole.com” is now mine along with oodles of bandwidth every month. I am quite pumped as I’ve never bothered to get my own hosting services (money costs) or to set up anything like this (codes befuddle).
Thanks to David (whose personal page can be found at dlthis.com) I got set up and debugged in no time. He helped me upload all the files (from the server’s presets so I didn’t have to bother uploading my copies) and config some PHP files to work with the MySQL stuff (I don’t know what that means but he fixed my woes).
The theme I’m running is called ”fSpring Widgets 1.0″ by Fredrik Fahlstad (one of the ones that came with WordPress 2.2) but I changed the header image to one of my own liking (read: I made it). I think it’s looking nice with the rest of the page and the bright orange is a nice change from the drab black and yellow of the original P.Pole and not as girly as the light blue and yellow of the P.Pole v.2.0 BETA.
I really do like the look of this place and how easy it was to get set up. I’ll be tinkering with stuff and trying my hand (probably unsuccessfully for the most part) at some PHP and javascript tomorrow. For now, goodnight (or morning). I must retire for the night (or morning…).
