Summer retreat (the first one Jaffray’s had in… a very long time) is coming up in a couple of days and I’m looking forward to a weekend’s worth of fellowship. I haven’t really started packing yet and I really should since we’re leaving on Saturday morning (at 8 am if I’m not mistaken).

5 things I’m bringing to retreat:

  • T-Shirts: for all-purposes! Coffee? It can handle it! Red wine on carpet? That too (just don’t use my shirts)!
  • Dress Clothes: for when I’m on the worship team and I’m supposed to look at least a little proper.
  • Shorts: I’ve got a thing for calves and my own are no exception… Wait, that’s a little creepy.
  • Ult. Frisbee disk and badminton stuffs: Retreat without REC would be just… -treat and a negative C.
  • Fleece Blanket: I have a thing for sleeping with this between myself and my much thicker and larger blanket because it’s a comfort thing and so I’ll be taking my blankee with me to retreat.

The usual tradition for myself at these sorts of church overnight events is to basically not sleep and stay up as late as possible for no good reason. Last time I did this at Winter Retreat (for just the English congregation) I broke out in hives, though I’m sure lack of sleep wasn’t the only reason (it’s more stress induced than sleep deprivation but I can see how the two could be related).  This retreat I’m going to be sleeping more normally hopefully, so as to give my best in terms of attentiveness and alertness for when I have to play for worship. I’ll also need the energy for REC so I definitely need to sleep.
