For the longest time I’ve been in love with the Suzumiya Haruhi no Y?utsu (aka: The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) anime series. Here’s a big Haruhi update that’s a little more than overdue.
First off, it’s confirmed that Haruhi and the rest of the SOS Brigade will be seeing a second season probably later on this year or sometime next year. This, of course, is gratifying news for all those Haruhi-philes out there (myself included) who just can’t get enough of Haruhi (or is it of Aya, I wonder). I first read about this on moetron.com, a page I was linked to through Tim’s blog. Moetron’s got scans too so hop on over and drool some.
This week’s episode of Lucky Star, the anime series about four girls in high school (some think I have a schoolgirl fetish) from the same studio as Haruhi’s, featured shorty girl Konata dressed up in full Haruhi cosplay glory. Now, I’m usually against such obvious marketing plugs as endorsing your other anime in the one that’s currently playing, but this little bit was just too good to be true. I mean, what could be better than a Japanese schoolgirl dressed up as another Japanese schoolgirl?! Anyway, check out the screens below, if you’re into the whole dress-up scene.
I actually enjoy it when creators of animes almost mock themselves by putting in all these little Easter Eggs from other animes. Of course, I’ve seen this happen mainly with the two anime series coming out of Kyoto Animation studios (Haruhi and Lucky, duh) and not too much anywhere else. When people can throw in some self-mock and actually pull it off, you know you’ve got something.
Aside: I’ve read on the Internets of people who absolutely adore Mikuru-chan from Haruhi because she happens to be very well endowed, but I don’t know… It just doesn’t do it for me. I’m not queer or anything, it’s just, not especially special for me. I’d much rather have a Hirano–! [pauses] Anyway, for you mammo-freaks out there, check out the latest Ivy screens (Soul Calibur 4). Pretty gross if you ask me. I really don’t know what to say except “Watch where you’re pointing those things…”
