5 plans for this (remainder of) October:
- carve a big, multi-faceted pumpkin with some friends
- make a couple of headcrab hats and wear them as Halloween costumes
- begin checking out some audio recorders (sans MP3 or radio or any other price-bloating functions) for… well, recording audio
- complete a draft of my extended essay and scholarship applications
- practice driving some more before my G2 licensing test on 11.02.07
I normally don’t “celebrate” Halloween or even acknowledge it (due to my having been brought up with a mostly conservative Christian-ish view about it) but I suppose don’t think there’s anything Biblically wrong with it… I mean, there’s a very big difference between worshiping demons and, say, carving Haruhi into a big ol’ pumpkin. Then again, I suppose I ought to read a bit more of my Bible and talk to knowledgeable people about the subject (e.g. the origins of the festival, what things originally meant, etc…) before I start claiming “It’s fine for Christians.” Then again, like I said, there are very different motivational differences between how occult acolytes, the general secular public, and self-aware Christians approach the occasion.
