Had Me Going This Time

I never knew anyone named Adelaide, but apparently Stephen Christian did and she didn’t seem to leave a very good taste in his mouth. Or perhaps he hates a certain Australian settlement. I did know a sweet girl named Adeline in grade school (she had dry skin on her hands, eczema I think). No crush or anything, but I just remembered since she had such a (super/ultra/secret) rare name.

After listening to this and looking up the lyrics, Kris told me this song was pretty harsh. I agree. That’s why I was debating whether or not to post this (I normally save harsh songs for when I am actually feeling like being harsh) but I figured it might as well be posted sooner than later. No other intro to this apart from “Anberlin rocks.” Hit the link for more Glorious Content, in the form of (very unnecessarily angsty) lyrics.

You’re repeating me lines that you think I wanna hear,
But I don’t wanna hear anymore.
As if “Sorry” is any consolation.
For what it’s worth, you’re stringing me along.

Sh-sh-shouldn’t need anyone…
Shouldn’t need anyone…
Just scared of being alone,
But by the time you figure this out,
Then I’m already gone.

Adelaide, you really had me going this time.
Adelaide, you need to quit-quit making a scene.

You keep giving me signs that you think I wanna see,
But you’re nothing like you seem.
Hide behind your half-smile,
But the truth is so undeniable.

Your lipstick traces on pillow cases.
Some things in life are unforgettable,
Like love, lost, lies and lust and…
Some things in life are undeniable.
- Anberlin, Adelaide
