Yesterday was the last day of school for me in 2007. To be honest, my real last day happened on Monday, since all the other days I had no classes and an exam. I finally handed in my Songlines (by Bruce Chatwin) commentaries and my lab report yesterday and feel quite in need of a day or two of good rest.
When I say rest, I don’t really mean “I’m going to lie here and soak in some oxygen for a bit.” Rest usually entails doing things that are enjoyable to do, such as reading and writing quietly, playing with and tweaking my desktop appearance, housekeeping (both digital and my-desk-ital), and the list goes on. There’s a lot that I could be doing right now, but it’s important that I am writing.
I think around this time of the year, I always get far too busy to write and think much. Then again, there are lots of things that don’t really have to do with this particular season that are taking up most of my time and considerable energies (not necessarily a bad thing, but taxing nevertheless). To remedy this, I’ll probably start amassing a list of this year’s highlights (posts and otherwise) for a year-end kind of synopsis. It’s a little pitiful, approximately a seventeenth of my life contained and summarized in a post that probably won’t be longer than a short essay.
