And not Pontius! I fell head over heels (so to speak) for this band way back when I was the tender age of Grade 8, though I didn’t exactly understand most of the actual lyrical content of their music at the time. I’ve since had a steady (though somewhat erratic) fostering of affection for the band over the years. “Caught by the Window” by this Torontonian band was the second album I ever purchased and the first one I truly enjoyed through and through. I’ve since come to associate their music with very important, key-moments in my life where I’ve had changes in understanding, opportunities for internal character building, and just good, actual living going on. Clearly, I’ve got a thing for Pilate that I’ll likely never (be able to or want to) shake. Perhaps I’ll write more on this later. In the mean time, enjoy “Overrated” by them, one of my favorites.

I look across the room.
I see her eyes, I see her gloom.
I don’t know why she’s sad now.
I don’t know why–I don’t know why she’s sad now.
Slip inside my dreams.
I’ll make you whole, you’ll make me clean,
I say we give it a try now.
I say we give it–yeah I say we give it a try.
I swear that I felt you breathe–it’s overrated.
In dreams I have cried at Your feet–was it wasted?
Look into my eyes.
See my heart and see my crimes.
I don’t know why it’s hard now.
I don’t know why–I don’t know why it’s so hard.
I swear that I felt you breathe–it’s overrated.
In dreams I have cried at Your feet–was it wasted?
My eyes have betrayed me–this pain is my prize.
The road’s just a memory–it’s warm here inside.
It’s warm here inside.
