If anyone who reads my posts happens to also have me on Gtalk, you’ll notice that as of late, my status message has been set to exactly that (well, not exactly, so let the psychoanalyzing begin). I have a thing for alternate versions of originals, what can I say?
My father, who is probably like some people out there, hates covers and remixes–he prefers to stick with the originals. I wouldn’t say I always (or even frequently) like covers over the originals, but I do enjoy them for what they are meant to be. I think of this as perhaps a sign of restlessness in me or more likely a compulsion to explore all the different parts of something I love (in this specific case, a song). In any case, the version (with strings) and the original are below (in that order) if you would like to have a sampling.
